Wastewater pretreatment regulations [microform], 1982-[ongoing]

Pretreatment compliance reports, audit and inspection reports, and other documents for municipalities with approved pretreatment programs. Includes also compliance reports, inspection reports, and related correspondence. Series was created in conjunction with the 1972 federal Water Pollution Control Act (P.L. 92-500) as amended by the Clean Water Act of 1977 (P.L. 95-217) and chapter 147, Wis. Stats. Pretreatment regulations require industrial users of publicly-owned wastewater treatment works (POTW) to meet standards for various pollutants before discharging wastewater to the POTW. The discharge of pollutants by industrial users in excess of the standards is unlawful. The DNR oversees the larger municipalities (POTWs with more than five million gallons per day design capacity) who directly administer the pretreatment regulations to their industrial users. The DNR directly administers the pretreatment regulations to industrial users of the remaining POTWs.
